In an interview with Famitsu, Super Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono said that Capcom chose the 3DS because the current PSP and DS systems could not do the game justice. With the 3DS announcement and the extra horsepower behind the system, the company felt that they could bring the excitement of SSFIV to your palm. Ono also said that the system's wireless capabilities were perfect for player communication.
Ono was coy about how Capcom was using the new system's 3D feature, but he insists that the gameplay will not be changing on a fundamental level. "The gameplay will be the same as Super Street Fighter IV," he said.
He also said that the game would not be dumbed down for the 3DS port. Some control changes may be coming, as Capcom is looking into what can be done with the slide pad and the bottom screen. Current implementations include putting special moves on the touch screen and mapping special attacks to the slide pad, like Capcom's Gamecube port of Capcom vs SNK 2.
Ono would like to add more original content to the port, but space remains at a premium. All modes from the console version should return, with the staff focusing on wireless play. All fighting systems will also be making the transition, like Saving Attacks, Focus Attacks, and Ultra Combos.
Famitsu confirmed separately that all 35 world warriors would be returning. The 3DS port itself is currently only 10 percent complete, with no firm release date in sight.
