If the previous factors weren't bad enough, I have only scratched the surface on why the iPhone won't succeed as a serious gaming platform. There are many topics still unexplored such as:
Does the AT&T exclusivity force gamers to accept a cellular service they may feel is inferior?
Will music, video, and games all readily available on one platform create additional competition for our discretionary time and dollars? (In other words, will some consumers download a movie to kill time rather than a game?)
Of course, ALL of my arguments can easily be refuted by one theory. We live in a free market and a free market will always produce the most efficient methods. However, that's really the question at hand: is gaming on the iPhone the most efficient way to deliver us our gaming needs?
