To me, this is the perfect platformer. I think I’ve played through it more times than any other game in my library. Many of us in the industry have borrowed liberally from the conventions it established. In fact, it heavily influenced us at Insomniac when we were designing the first Ratchet & Clank. Even today some of the things it does still feel innovative. For example, starting the game with a boss fight. Who does that kind of stuff? Gunpei Yokoi and his team had the courage to throw the platformer rulebook out the window and ended up with one of the greatest games of all time.
