There's a staggering number of PCs in use nowadays, and owning a computer is quickly becoming more of a necessity than a convenience for most people. The problem for top-of-the-line PC game publishers is that an increasing number of these PCs are laptops. To speak in a very broad and general sense, laptops tend to have less computing power than desktops of the same price. What's more, many laptops are not made with high-level PC gaming in mind and simply aren't upgradable. Yes, there are gaming laptops and there are laptops designed to have their CPU or GPU upgraded later, but these are the exception rather than the rule. Lots of laptops (and now, Netbooks) are great for browser-based games and certain MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, but they aren't quite so good for things like Crysis.
