Bonfire Studios announced recently that it has hired Dave Pottinger to be the company’s director of technology. He will help the company work on its “multiple unannounced projects in the works.”
“As director of technology and lead designer on Halo Wars, Dave really delivered on AAA quality and that’s been the goal of Bonfire from day one,” said David Rippy, president and CEO of Bonfire Studios. “We know he’ll be a perfect fit with our company culture and be a great asset as we position the company for growth in 2010 and beyond.”
Pottinger is a veteran of the gaming industry for 16 years. He helped start up Ensemble Studios during the '90s (of which many Bonfire members are veterans of) and was director of technology for their first title, Age of Empires. As mentioned by Rippy, he was also a lead designer on Halo Wars, Ensemble's swan song before Microsoft shut the studio down.
“Bonfire is a team full of old friends that I am looking forward to working with again,” said Pottinger. “I think we’re going to blow people away once they see what we’re doing.”
